Job Title: Assistant Disaster and Risk Management Officer
Grade: K/M8
Reporting to : Disaster and Risk Management Officer (Grade I/M6)

Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting in coordinating all disaster risk and management activities/ issues at district level
- Assisting in budgeting for disaster risk management activities at district level
- Assisting District Council in the identification of Disaster Risk Preparedness, Mitigation, Response and Recovery interventions
- Assisting in training and sensitization of local disaster risk Management structures at district level
- Compiling reports on disaster risk reduction activities for submission to headquarters
- Assisting in monitoring and supervising the implementation of disaster risk management Programmes being implemented and planned at district level
- Maintaining a database of organizations involved in disaster risk management
- Assisting in identifying disaster risk management training needs for District Councils
- Assisting in Coordinating all Humanitarian Response programs in the District
- Carrying out participatory learning appraisals to ascertain root causes of problems and learn from the experiences
- Training youth in Disaster Risk Management and Climate change interventions
- Assessing training gaps in various committees and arranging trainings to address the gaps
- Training various committees in group dynamic, record keeping, participatory planning monitoring and evaluation (PPM & E)
- Liaising and networking with District Council, NGOs and other stakeholders in the district.
- Writing monthly, quarterly and annual reports
- Any other duties assigned from time to time
Qualifications
Applicants must be in possession of a Diploma in Disaster Risk Management, Development Studies, Social Work, Sociology or Psychology, Community Development or Rural Development from accredited institutions.
