Our client, a leader in Agro business medicinal cannabis and crops is looking for an energetic, aggressive, and self-motivated and result oriented individual to join its team in the position mentioned below:

GENERAL MANAGER

Location: Lilongwe

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager is to oversees the overall operations of a cannabis dispensary, cultivation facility, or processing facility. The General Manager will also be responsible for providing direct oversight, coaching, and business direction to the facility. Providing guidance and direction to cultivation, processing, compliance, packaging, inventory management, and security teams.

THE ROLE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement business plans, goals, and objectives.
  2. Operations Management: Independently managing the facility. Supervising day-to-day activities, ensure compliance with regulations, and maintain quality control.
  3. Team Management: Lead, train, and develop staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  4. Customer Service: Ensure exceptional customer experiences, handle customer complaints, and build relationships.
  5. Inventory Management: Oversee inventory control, ordering, and stocking of products.
  6. Financial Management: Manage budgets, track expenses, and optimize profitability.
  7. Budget Control: Overseeing resource allocation while maintaining budgetary control.
  8. Compliance: Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, and maintain necessary licenses and permits.
  9. Security: Implement and maintain security protocols to protect assets and ensure safety.
  10. Marketing: Develop and execute marketing strategies to drive sales and growth.
  11. Industry Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.
  12. Project Management: Manage projects from time to time ensuring that the projects are successful by managing timelines for successful and timely delivery of duties.
  13. Reporting: Periodically reporting to the board of directors of the performance of the facility.
  14. Conflict Resolution: Resolving internal and external conflicts through mediation.
  15. Data analysis: Analyzing data and performance metrics to make informed decisions.
  1. Monitoring market and industry trends: To ensure that the business is able to identify business opportunities and challenges.
  2. Additionally, a Cannabis General Manager is responsible for:
  3. Building relationships with vendors, suppliers, and partners.
  4. Managing facility maintenance and upkeep.
  5. Ensuring environmental sustainability and waste management.
  6. Implementing and maintaining quality assurance programs.
  7. Conducting performance evaluations and making personnel decisions.
  8. Budget preparation, management and setting short- and long-term goals.
  9. Implementing sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.
  10. Conducting research and development to improve cultivation techniques.
  11. Ensuring worker safety and training staff on safety protocols.
  12. Staying up-to-date on industry developments and best practices.
  13. Performing other duties assigned by the Board of Directors.
  14. The General Manager is ultimately accountable for the success or failure of the organization, department, or facility, and is responsible for ensuring that it operates efficiently, effectively, and in alignment with its mission and vision.

RELATED JOB REQUIREMENT / QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent. Those with a qualification in Horticulture will have an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of basic Accounting.
  • A minimum of five years of proven expertise in cannabis cultivation and manufacturing management.
  • Familiarity with the Cannabis Act. In-depth knowledge of the cannabis industry and regulations. Personalattribute

  • Ability to work with cross functional teams to deliver business results.
