Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Malawi is a locally registered NGO that has been operating in Malawi since 1995. Our mission is to work with the communities by promoting social and economic development through health, education training, food security and environmental programs. Our work in development is guided by social cohesion and respect for humanity, implemented through innovative and cost-effective programs. Through a variety of development models, DAPP complements the government’s effort in implementing the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy.
With funding from the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), DAPP Malawi is implementing the Determined, Resilient, AIDS-Free Mentored and Safe (DREAMS), a project called “Loto Langa” (LoLa) which targets Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) aged between 10 to 24 years with several layers of interventions including Social Asset Building, Violence Prevention, Economic Strengthening and Education Support, direct service delivery of HIV Testing, Family Planning and Condom Education. The project also targets parents of AGYW that are in DREAMS with Families Matter Program.
DAPP Malawi is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for various positions under the DREAMS project which is being implemented in Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts.
DISTRICT TECHNICAL COORDINATOR
Reports to: Dreams Technical Lead
The District Technical Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the management of CDC-supported project activities being implemented in the district.
Key Performance Areas
- Oversees Referrals and Linkage system in the implementation of the project activities at the community and health facility according to donor expectations and is expected to identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner, suggest appropriate program adjustments and develop project improvement plans.
- Enhance collaboration with other departments and relevant stakeholders in designated Health Facilities in the targeted districts.
- Planning, Reporting Coordination, collaboration, supervision, and Implementation.
- Providing overall leadership and management in the implementation project activities with much focus on Referrals and Linkages of AGYW to the appropriate health services at the health Facility.
- Coordinating project operations in collaboration with health facility coordinators (ART, HTC, STIs, FP) etc., HDAs and DREAMS Linkage Nurse.
- Provide day to day leadership to the DREAMS Linkage Nurse and HDAs at the health facility Collaborate with other departments and relevant stakeholders in designated Health Facilities.
- Ensuring timely implementation of project activities at all health facility to achieve expected and high-quality results.
- Supervise the work of the DREAMS Linkage Nurse and HDAs and this will include providing coaching and mentorship support.
- This DTC will ensure the activity meets stated goals and reporting requirements
Qualification and Experience
- Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Clinical Medicine obtained from a recognized institution. Those with higher qualifications have added advantage.
- Must be registered with Medical Council of Malawi or Nurses Council of Malawi
- At least 5 years of experience on HIV for complex programs
- Demonstrated current knowledge of the DREAMS approach and at least 3 years’ experience in programming for AGYWs in Malawi.
- Ability to work in a complex environment with short deadlines to deliver results.
- Knowledge of ART, HTS and STI program in Malawi
- Knowledge of SRHR and CBDA’s work.
- Up to date with PrEP, PEP, and other health policies relevant to AGYW in Malawi.
- Experience working on the DREAMS program.
- Demonstrable experience in supervising staff, administration, and managing resources.
- Ability to identify and facilitate educational programs or in-service training sessions for Linkage Nurses and Linkage Field Officers.
- Ability to mentor juniors and with practical knowledge of participatory methodologies in project implementation.
- Demonstrated experience on HIV programs and familiarity with PEPFAR indicators
- Strong understanding of PEPFAR and Malawian Government HIV priorities and MOH guidelines.
