Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Malawi is a locally registered NGO that has been operating in Malawi since 1995. Our mission is to work with the communities by promoting social and economic development through health, education training, food security and environmental programs. Our work in development is guided by social cohesion and respect for humanity, implemented through innovative and cost-effective programs. Through a variety of development models, DAPP complements the government’s effort in implementing the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy.
With funding from the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), DAPP Malawi is implementing the Determined, Resilient, AIDS-Free Mentored and Safe (DREAMS), a project called “Loto Langa” (LoLa) which targets Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) aged between 10 to 24 years with several layers of interventions including Social Asset Building, Violence Prevention, Economic Strengthening and Education Support, direct service delivery of HIV Testing, Family Planning and Condom Education. The project also targets parents of AGYW that are in DREAMS with Families Matter Program.
DAPP Malawi is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for various positions under the DREAMS project which is being implemented in Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts.
Position: Senior Health Promoters (x2)-Chiradzulu
Reports to: District Coordinator
Job summary/responsibilities
The Senior Health Promoter will provide overall leadership to the field workers based at a site, support the whole team in making sure that resources are available at all times that help in carrying out DREAMS community activities, create a strong relationship with other stakeholders implementing other activities, provide guidance to the activities taking place at a community level, and strengthen the communication, coordinate and be a link between the community, and the organization.
Key Performance Areas
The Senior Health Promoter is expected to do the following tasks, not limited to planning, reporting, coordination, collaboration, supervision and implementation through.
- Providing day to day leadership of DREAMS Lola project implementation by Community cadres surrounding the targeted Health Facilities.
- Coordinating and managing project operations in collaboration with Lola Clinical Program Supervisor and Linkage Nurses
- Overseeing that project implementation adheres to donor agreement and expectations, timely and high-quality results, expected to identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner, suggest appropriate program adjustment and develop project improvement plans
- Actively participating in district meetings and secure that the project is well represented in key District Meetings.
- Ensuring the implementation of program activities within the guidelines and policies of DAPP Malawi.
- Secure that the project data is well captured, analyzed and reported
- Provide data for progress reports, weekly, monthly, quarterly, half year and annual progress reports and whenever asked to. Share data with facility monthly and when asked to.
- Produce the facility week plan, monthly and quarterly work plan for the project and submit it to the District Coordinator.
- Ensure that the staff have performance plans and are reviewed and provided with feedback on a formal basis annually and informally at least every six months.
Qualification and Experience
- Degree in community Development or any related qualification
- Have/possess a valid motorbike license
- At least 3 years of experience in community work related to public health projects.
- Experienced in community mobilization
- Experienced in data collection
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient writing and verbal communication skills;
- Relevant Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and MS Office
- Excellent Stakeholder engagement and management
- Willing to work long hours toward the attainment of program objectives and deliverables
- Excellent writing and documentation skills
