Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Malawi is a locally registered NGO that has been operating in Malawi since 1995. Our mission is to work with the communities by promoting social and economic development through health, education training, food security and environmental programs. Our work in development is guided by social cohesion and respect for humanity, implemented through innovative and cost-effective programs. Through a variety of development models, DAPP complements the government’s effort in implementing the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy.

With funding from the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),  DAPP Malawi is implementing the  Determined, Resilient, AIDS-Free Mentored and Safe (DREAMS), a project called “Loto Langa” (LoLa)  which targets Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) aged between 10 to 24 years with several layers of interventions including Social Asset Building, Violence Prevention, Economic Strengthening and Education Support, direct service delivery of HIV Testing, Family Planning and Condom Education.   The project also targets parents of  AGYW that are in DREAMS with Families Matter Program.

DAPP Malawi is inviting suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for various positions under the DREAMS project which is  being implemented in Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts.

HIV DIAGNOSTIC ASSISTANTS(X4)-Blantyre and Chiradzulu

Reports to: HTS Supervisor

Job summary/responsibilities

This position will strengthen referral and linkage between Health Facility (HF) and DREAMS activities at community level ensuring seamless coordination between referral and service provision. This includes provision of client – centered HIV diagnostic services to AGYW enrolled in DREAMS program and their sexual partners. Furthermore, the position will ensure provision of youth friendly and comprehensive support in line with relevant DREAMS package models.

Key Performance Areas

  • Ensuring the linkage and referral system is functioning properly at the health facility and community level
  • Providing HIV diagnostic services
  • Identifying AGYW enrolled in DREAMS program seeking health services to a HFs
  • Support provision of HTS services to the deployed Health Facility
  • Referring/escorting (where needed) AGYW to appropriate health services
  • Collaborate with other health service providers and stakeholders at the FH
  • Provide feed-back to Health Promoters working in the community surrounding the HF
  • Planning, executing and reporting work progress on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to the HTS Supervisors
  • Work in complex environments and manage to deliver impact within agreed timelines.

Qualification and Experience

  • A minimum qualification of certificate in community development or any public health related qualification
  • Certificate in HIV Testing Services with evidence of a Logbook in use
  • Those with HTC certificate and have participated in HTC Intensive Training.
  • At least 3 years of experience in community work and community mobilisation
  • Experienced in community mobilisation
  • Experiences in data collection
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills
  • Have a valid motor bike driving licence and is able to drive
