
Zomba District Council
The Government of Malawi with support from United States Agency for International Development (USAID, will over the course of five years, implement critical health and social welfare activities through a Government to Government (G2G) agreement at the district level and contribute to the improvement of HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health (MCH), family planning (fP), luberculosis (IB), Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), nutriton and social wellare service delivery. To achieve the intended objectives of the agreement, The Government through the Local Government Service Commission intends to hire additional health care workers (HC Ws) and support staff.
The Local Government Service Commission therefore invites applications from suitably qualified Malawians to fill the vacant position existing at Zomba District Council Establishment as below:
Post: Assistant Environmental Health Officer (Grade K)
Qualifications: Applicants must be in possession of Diploma in Environmental Health obtained from the accredited institution and should be registered with Medical Council of Malawi.
Duties:
For the following duties:
- Plans environmental health activities in an area
- Inspects business, Institutions and food premises to assess health risks
- Collects water and food samples for bacteriological examinations and chemical analysis
- Assist in protection of wells and springs and maintenance of water points
- Conducts vector and vermin control activities in an area
- Collects and analyses environmental health data in an area
- Organizes and conducts training for environmental health personnel and VHCs in an area.
- Supervises environmental staff in an area
- Conducts disease investigation and institutes control measures in an area
- Enforcement of environmental health law
- Routinely monitor the environmental health services and take appropriate actions to improve the environmental health service quality and overall health status of the people.
- Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post.
