JOB OVERVIEW:
Beit-CURE Hospital, Malawi is looking to fill the position of General Maintenance Technician. Under the supervision of the Facility Manager, the General Maintenance Technician performs a support function within the Facility Department, ensuring that all jobs, tasks and duties assigned by the Facility Manager are executed and managed within the directed timelines, ensuring no disruption to hospital operations. The Function of the General Maintenance Technician is defined entirely by the Facility Manager in relation to work orders raised within the Hospital from different departments, and can also be attached to Internal Building Projects.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- In-charge of plumbing installations, carpentry, welding and related repairs.
- Assist in basic maintenance issues.
- Maintenance and servicing of hospital machinery i.e hospital incinerator, generator e.t.c
- Ensuring proper waste management.
- Update stock levels in Maintenance Stores.
- Submit scheduled reports
- Maintain and organized work environment in all aspects and proper scheduling of work priorities.
- Maintain an accurate electronic equipment
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma in general maintenance with strong background in Plumbing or welding.
- Over 2 years of experience in general maintenance in a busy environment.
- Computer literate with experience using Microsoft word.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Solid knowledge of general maintenance techniques and equipment list.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- Good physical stamina and strength to handle manual tasks.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work on weekends or outside regular working hours for emergencies or special projects.
