HEAD DRIVER

Objectives
Responsible for planning and coordinating transportation routes, managing drivers’ schedules and ensuring that all deliveries are made on time.

Reporting to: Human Resources and Administration Officer

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the team of drivers, ensuring that all transportation needs are met efficiently and effectively
  • Plan and coordinate transportation routes, including pickups and delivery schedules, and ensure that all deliveries are made on time.
  • Ensure all vehicles are well maintained and operated safely, including regular maintenance checks and inspections
  • Manage driver’s schedules, including tracking time worked, absence and vacations (leave days)
  • Assisting in hiring and training new drivers and provide ongoing training and support to the teams
  • Ensure that all drivers adhere to company policies, procedures and safety standards
  • Maintain accurate records of transportation and delivery activities
  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure that all vehicles are ready and available for transportation needs
  • Handle any issues or concerns that arise during transportation and delivery, including customer complaints and vehicle breakdowns
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and safety standards.
  • Routine vehicle checks and ensuring that all vehicle log books are being properly recorded and updated.

Qualification, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

  • Class C1 Driving License and MSCE
  • 3 years’ experience in the Transport Section
  • Strong knowledge of Road Traffic Rules and Regulations
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
