PressCane Limited, a subsidiary of Press Corporation PLC, is situated in Chikwawa. The company produces ethanol for blending with petrol and is thus, a key player in the energy sector for Malawi.
In order to ensure smooth operations, the company invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of ELECTRICAL AND INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN.
The ideal applicant must have:
- Malawi School of Certificate of Education or its equivalent
- Grade 1 NTT or Advanced Craft in Electrical
- Diploma in Electrical and Electronics will be a plus
- At least two years experience in a busy manufacturing industry
Key responsibilities for the position include:
- Calibrates valves, temperature transmitters, level transmitters and gauges using portable loop calibrator, simulator, low pressure calibrator and dead weight tester respectively to maintain accuracy.
- Repairs electronic board for magnetic flow meter, levels and pressure transmitters and rectifying them to enhance their performances.
- Installs of new instruments in the plant in replacing for the damaged ones to improve overall performance.
- Operates and monitors synchronization of Standby Generators
- Carries out electrical equipment routine condition monitoring checks to avoid emergency down time.
- Repairs (overhaul) Electric Motors, testing using a variety of measuring instruments and re-commission into service
- Analyze and interpret Electrical Drawings for the purpose of upgrading existing systems and participate in the efficient installation of new equipment
- Attends to all Electrical and Instrumentation breakdowns and issues while on shift
Those with practical Instrumentation experience will have an added advantage.
