Malawi Network of AIDS Service Organisations (MANASO)

MANASO is a Network organization comprising Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Local NGOs, and International NGOs in all districts across the country. Its mandate is to coordinate the HIV and AIDS national response among Civil Society Organizations in Malawi. In addition to the coordination role, MANASO also implements activities that focus on HIV/AIDS, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), TB, COVID-19, Malaria, Nutrition, and Humanitarian response.

To achieve the implementation of various programs, MANASO, therefore, invites expressions of interest from qualified Malawians for the following position:

Capacity Building Manager 

Reporting to the Executive Director the Manager shall oversee and coordinate with appropriate stakeholders in all aspects of activity planning, monitoring, and implementation of the project. The incumbent will work closely with CSOs in conducting a needs assessment, and gaps identification to ensure adequate capacity is built in various areas of the program.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assist the members in both planning and implementation of activities, providing technical support throughout the process.
  • Engage and innovate partnership collaboration and capacity and their meaningful participation with planned actions
  • Identifies, develops, maintains, and nurtures effective collaborative partnerships among a wide range of Government and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in line with MANASO mandate and work with the key actors to identify technical and project needs.
  • Develop and implement capacity building and training needs assessment
  • Support processes and steps that identify potential organizations for strategic partnerships and capacity building and facilitate collaboration and cooperation in community systems strengthening (CSS).
  • Provide leadership and support to foster effective partnerships, integration of activities, and technical support across partners (CSOs).
  • Facilitates the provision of technical assistance in collaboration with the Programmes, MEAL, and Finance in the development and implementation of programs in CSS.
  • Organize and facilitate forums to enhance the sharing and learning of best practices among CSS partners.
  • Complete detailed write-ups, work plans, and quarterly reports including reviewing reports and deliverables from CSOs and all other reporting requirements.
  • Tracking of progress indicators and outcomes in collaboration with the project functions (M&E, finance, etc.), documenting and disseminating lessons learned.
  • Work closely with the Administration Officer to develop and implement a procurement plan for goods and services required to support project implementation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

 Required qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Project Management, or a related field.
  • A master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 7 years of working experience in an NGO sector Good knowledge and experience in partnership management and local partners’ capacity building.
  • Strong technical expertise in capacity building and partnership in health-related programs, AGYW, gender integration, youth empowerment, and social and behavior change communication in the health sector CSO networks.
  • Demonstrated evidence of having analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Evidence of good presentation/facilitation skills, excellent verbal, and written communication skills, and successful teamwork.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining productive working relations with stakeholders including the Ministry of Health and/or Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability, and Social Welfare.
  • A self-starter, innovative, and creative person with a passion for hard work and self-motivation.
  • Willingness to travel to districts and communities and empathy with the community’s suffering and needs.
