Mary’s Meals is a global movement supported by people from all walks of life and we are focused on one goal – that every child receives a nutritious daily meal in a place of education. We continue to change the lives of over 2.4 million children who today will receive a Mary’s Meals. Mary’s Meals Malawi is our largest school feeding programme, and we work closely with schools and community volunteers who help prepare and serve the nutritious meals every school day.
Marys Meals Malawi is looking to recruit energetic and motivated individuals for the position of:
Procurement Manager (Permanent Position Based in Blantyre)
Job purpose
Reporting to the Head of Services, the Procurement Manager (PM) is responsible for managing and coordinating procurement officer(s), lead cost-effective purchasing processes, provide guidance on sourcing and procurement processes, and ensure that agreements are in-place to protect MM. The PM will research, evaluate, and buy products for MM to use in their everyday operations. The PM will be responsible for ensuring all procurement activities are in-line with Mary’s Meals Malawi procurement and financial policies and will support the Malawi Internal Procurement Committee ensuring that its mandate is met. The PM will also work closely with the Mary’s Meals International Procurement Manager and contribute to the growth of the global procurement function.
Qualifications, skills and experience
- A Degree in a relevant field/subject.
- Full paid-up member of the Malawi Institute of Procurement and Supply (MIPS).
- At least 5 previous years’ experience working in a similar role.
- Fluency in English for effective oral and written communication.
- Highly organized with an ability to pay close attention to detail and capable of reporting in a timely manner.
- Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
- Ability to present information in a clear, logical, and concise manner.
- Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach staff.
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Programmes, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Creative and innovative.
- Good communication skills across all levels and with a wide range of different people.
- Experience working towards tight deadlines.
- Dependable honest and always fostering an atmosphere of trust and integrity.
- Possess a valid driving licence.
