ACADEMIC VACANCIES

Director of Academics, Research and Consultancy Services
This is a senior position reporting to the University Vice Chancellor. The position coordinates all academic functions in the University, including Research, Consultancy and ODeL.

Responsibilities
The position of Director of Academic, Research and Consultancy Services shall have the following responsibilities, but not limited to

  • Directing the University wide academic programmes, curricula, and professional development, research and consultancy services.
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of teaching strategies throughout the University.
  • Leading the University’s corporate goals and strategic aims in research, partnership working and community engagement.
  • Leading on development of an effective strategy for the development and design of a series of new
    programmes at postgraduate and undergraduate level.
  • Ensuring that appropriate strategies and policies are in place to enable the University to recruit and retain excellent teaching and research staff.
  • Developing an active research culture that fosters the highest achievements, encourages innovation and enriches the student learning experience.
  • Promoting research links, external partnerships and enterprise opportunities and community engagement, engaging staff and students within the University and with external organizations.
  • Maintaining and developing external partnerships in the private and public sectors and identifying opportunities for carrier development relationships for students, research and enterprise opportunities for staff.
  • Developing a programme for consultancy work in line with the Universities Strategic Plan.
  • Coordinating ODeL activities in the University.

Qualification and work experience

  • A minimum of Master’s Degree in a discipline appropriate to the management of learning in higher
    education.
  • At least three years of experience in a similar position.

 

ODeL Coordinator
Reporting to the Director of Academics, Research and Consultancy Services, the ODeL Coordinator shall provide Knowledge and Specialist skills in online learning in order to ensure that the University meets its objectives. It entails development of plans and coordination to ensure effective implementation of ODeL course delivery and initiatives as well as ensuring administrative support services to the core functions of teaching and learning, research consulting and outreach operations of the University as a whole.

The duties and responsibilities of the ODeL Coordinator shall include:

  • Organizing initiatives for online programs and identifying trends in online learning;
  • Working with faculty and administrative professionals in various departments to integrate distance learning options across all degree programs, and providing training for online instructors;
  • Developing distance learning policies and best practices in conjunction with Deans of Faculties;
  • Assessing and analyzing current online programs and initiatives;
  • Coordinating instructional designs with an understanding of best practices for distance learning;
  • Work with other University departments to support teachers delivering online coursework from the planning to the assessment phase.

Qualification and work experience

Master of Arts in Linguistics.
