The Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for the following vacancies existing at Neno District Council.
JOB TITLE : CHIEF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER
GRADE : F/M3
DUTIES
- Plan, implement, monitor and evaluate Environment health services and social welfare services of the Council.
- Prepare, implement the budget for the PreventiveHealth Services Section.
- Supervise officers in the section.
- Conduct Civic education on environmental health issues.
- Promote sanitation and hygiene at the Council.
- Any other relevant duty assigned from time to time.
Educational Qualifications
Applicants must be serving Principal Environmental Health Officers (Grade G/M4) With a minimum of four (4) years experience at that grade in Local Authorities.
Competencies
- The job holder is responsible for recognizing, investigating and managing infectious Diseases of public health importance.
- He/she must demonstrate the ability to Undertake health care routine and transmission based infection control precautions Including the provision of immunizations and the management of associated adverse events.
- Must be able to ensure the effective prevention and control of communicable diseases through the maintenance of comprehensive surveillance, investigation, management, partner notification and follow-up programs
JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL MEDICAL OFFICER
GRADE: G/M4
DUTIES
- Serve as Head of Clinical Services department at the Council;
- Take lead in clinical Work (patient care) including being on call, conduct ward rounds and OPD clinics both at the hospital and peripheral health facilities;
- Recommend the procurement of drugs, medical supplies and medical equipment for the district;
- Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets for the hospital in collaboration with the DHMT;
- Compile periodic reports as determined by the DHMT on the performances of the hospital and curative
services in the district; - Ensure that all deaths in the hospital are audited and measures taken to prevent unnecessary deaths.
- Supervise all medical staff under his/her control.
Educational Qualifications
Applicants must be serving Senior Medical Officers (Grade HH/M5) with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience at that grade in Local Authorities.
Competencies
- The job holder must demonstrate in-depth knowledge and hands on experience in all aspects of clinical medicine.
- Must demonstrate ability to manage multi-disciplinary health care teams at the Council.
- Deputizes the chief medical officer and assist on operational matters.
JOB TITLE: PRINCIPAL WATER SUPPLY OFFICER
GRADE: G/M4
DUTIES
- Coordinate participate plan, implement, Monitor and evaluate water supply and sanitation Community Based management activities;
- Co-Coordinate regular meetings with Stakeholders;
- Organize supervisory visits to water supply and sanitation partners;
- Conduct surveys and data collection;
- Prepare and submit regular reports to the District Commissioner
- Plan, conduct, coordinate and evaluate training programs for extension workers and communities;
- Liaise with Private Sector and Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development Headquarters on the availability and distribution of spare parts;
- Organize pump installation and construction and maintenance of water supply and sanitation investments;
- Initiate participation and dissemination of gender, hygiene, sanitation and Health messages.
Educational Qualifications
Applicants must serving Senior Water Supply Officers at (Grade H/M5) regardless of experience at that grade OR Water Supply Officers (Grade I/M6) with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in Local Authorities.
Job Title: SENIOR ASSISTANT FORESTRY OFFICER
Grade: J/M7
DUTIES
1. Enforce and interpret the Forestry Policy and Law by:
2. Conduct forest resource assessment and mapping by:
3. Monitor, maintains firebreaks, forest boundaries against Encroachment.
4. Ensuring that fire equipment/communication structures are in order
5. Conducting fire awareness campaigns
6. Conducting training for forest resources protection
7. Raising awareness on investment opportunities in forestry plantations
8. Carrying out needs assessment in relation to forest resource management
9. Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Educational Qualification
Applicants must be serving Assistant Forestry Officer (Grade K) for a period of not less than 4 (four) years in Local Authorities.
