The Opportunity
Save the Children is inviting applications from suitably qualified personnel to fill the position of Technical Coordinator – Child Protection for Ntcheu under Programme Operations (NORAD Framework Agreement). With support from the Senior Technical Adviser for Child Protection, the Technical Coordinator for Child Protection (CP) will be responsible for providing technical support to programme local implementing partners within the NORAD framework Agreement, as well as overall coordination of CP activities in the two impact districts of Mchinji and Balaka.
Precisely, the Technical Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of all child protection interventions especially focusing on ending child marriage, reducing teenage pregnancies, promotion of child justice in close collaboration with Adolescent SRHR interventions and cross cutting issues of Gender and inclusion as well as climate change.
The post holder will work closely with Technical Coordinators of the other thematic areas within the NORAD framework program i.e. ASRHR, Education and Child Rights Governance as well as other projects within the Central region area office and national level. With technical support from the Senior Technical Adviser for Child protection, the post holder will also steer the uptake key CP common approaches during the implementation of program as well as abiding by the expected fidelity of implementation and quality assurance.
In case of emergencies or humanitarian situation, the position holder will be required to support in response as assigned by the Country Office and will be required to work outside the normal profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
In order to be successful you will bring/have:
- Bachelor’s degree level in social sciences, sociology, social work, or relevant field
- Strong child protection background and experience, especially with demonstrable skills in implementing interventions on ending child marriage, reducing teenage pregnancies with strong linkages with ASRHR within a ‘systems strengthening’ approach.
- Wide experience with demonstrable skills in conducting child protection case management referrals and linkages especially when handling Sexual and GBV case management within ending child marriage programming,
- Practical skills in setting up and facilitating space spaces for child survivors of abuse as well as comprehensive sexuality education as part of adolescent programming.
- Wide experience in working in collaboration with government departments and key child protection and ASRHR structures both formal and informal.
- Demonstrable skills in conducting child rights advocacy and social accountability of duty bearers on issues of child marriage and teenage pregnancies.
- Well knowledgeable in chid justice and demonstrable skills in facilitating mobile courts, working with paralegals, magistrate courts, probation offers, police prosecutors and investigators on cases of child survivors of sexual violence especially child marriage.
- Capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and hard-working circumstance eg humanitarian emergencies.
- Ability to write clear project reports (both narrative and financial) as well as updates.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
