Supply and Installation of Solar Home Systems for Beneficiary Households in Nanchidwa
1. Background
Habitat for Humanity Malawi (HFHM), an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to improving housing conditions in Malawi. Established in 1986, HFHM has supported over 133,600 people to access safe and decent housing. Guided by the vision, “A Malawi where everyone has a decent place to live,” and the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, we focus on building more and better homes, strengthening housing systems and advancing action for housing partnerships, innovation, and volunteerism.
HFHM is implementing a project funded by GALES FAMILY in Nanchidwa, Mulanje District to empower families that were affected by Cyclone Freddy through improved housing and livelihoods.
Habitat for Humanity Malawi (HFHM) invites applications from qualified and experienced suppliers/contractors for the supply, installation and commissioning of 70 solar home systems (SHS) for beneficiary households in Nanchidwa, together with six (6) months of post-installation technical support and maintenance.
Installation period: Within ten (10) working days from contract signing
Location: Nanchidwa
Support period: Twenty-four (24) months post-installation technical support
Key requirements include:
- Supply of solar home systems, each comprising 4-5 LED bulbs, a mobile phone charging facility, and a portable torch and radio unit
- Delivery, installation and commissioning of all systems on site at Nanchidwa
- Twenty-four (24) months of post-installation technical support, including fault call-out and replacement of defective components
- Permanent and indelible marking of each system with a project asset/serial number, registered against the named beneficiary household
- Submission of an asset register of serial numbers against household names, and verification of systems in situ during spot-check visits
Minimum requirements:
- Proven experience supplying and installing solar home systems, preferably in rural/off-grid settings (please include copies of contracts, LPOs or completion of work certificates) – for 3 different clients
- Capacity to source quality-assured components with adequate warranty coverage
- Capacity to provide after-sales technical support for the full six-month period Include complete specifications and brand names where possible for your offer
- Valid business registration and tax compliance documentation
