TRUE seeks suitably qualified, highly motivated, and hardworking candidates to fill PhD Fellow positions as follows:
1. PhD Fellowship Stipend in Epidemiological/Clinical Research
Project Overview
This fully funded PhD fellowship is part of a major MRC-supported research project evaluating the efficacy, safety, acceptability, and cost-effectiveness of Post-discharge Malaria Chemoprevention (PDMC) in children recovering from severe acute malnutrition. The study will be conducted across sites in Malawi and Uganda, in collaboration with the University of Bergen (Norway) and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (UK).
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team and will develop a PhD project focused on clinical, epidemiological, and/or implementation science aspects of the PDMC intervention.
2. PhD Fellowship Stipend in Health Social Science Research
Project Overview
This PhD is supported by the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCT), a funding body that exists to accelerate the clinical development of new or improved medicinal products for the identification, treatment, and prevention of poverty-related and neglected infectious diseases, including re-emerging diseases. The PhD research will be embedded in a large and exciting multidisciplinary research project on the acceptability, efficacy, and safety of a malaria vaccine compared to chemoprevention in preventing death and rehospitalisations in children recovering from severe anaemia. The project will be conducted in Malawi, Kenya and Uganda with collaborations in Norway and the UK.
