Job Description
The Crusher Plant Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of quarry and crushing-plant machinery, including jaw crushers, cone crushers, impact crushers, vibrating screens, conveyor belts, and associated equipment, to ensure reliable and efficient raw-material processing
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and support in the operation and maintenance of the crusher plant.
- Perform routine, preventive, and breakdown maintenance on crushers, vibrating screens, conveyor belts, rollers, and associated equipment.
- Inspect mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems to diagnose operational faults and carry out appropriate repairs.
- Replace and maintain worn components, including liner plates, jaw dies, bearings, rollers, and other crusher components, to optimize crushing efficiency.
- Conduct regular inspections of crusher-plant equipment and identify potential faults and maintenance requirements
- Adhere to and promote strict company safety standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and environmental requirements during maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, breakdowns, and parts replacement requirements for management review.
- Work closely with plant operators and other engineering personnel to minimize equipment downtime and improve plant availability.
- Promote teamwork, good communication, safety awareness, and a strong maintenance culture.
- Perform any other duties relevant to the position as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary Certificate in General Fitting, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience, preferably in a busy quarry, mining, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong practical experience in the repair and maintenance of crusher plants.
- Experience with coal crushers and water-washing plants will be an added advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
