VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

1.  OPERATIONS MANAGER – ZIWETO BREEDING SOLUTIONS

Ziweto Enterprises Limited, a fast-growing agribusiness operating across Malawi’s livestock value chain, is establishing Ziweto Breeding Solutions—a new integrated breeder farm and hatchery unit. We are seeking a dynamic Operations Manager to lead this strategic venture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the breeder farm and hatchery.
• Supervise the Breeder Farm Supervisor and Hatchery Supervisor.
• Ensure high biosecurity, production efficiency, and chick quality.
• Manage incubation, hatching, and chick distribution to Ziweto customers.
• Coordinate production planning, staff management, and performance reporting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Poultry Science, Agriculture, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial poultry or hatchery operations.
• Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of breeder management, incubation processes, and logistics.

2.     BREEDER FARM SUPERVISOR

The Breeder Farm Supervisor will oversee day-to-day flock management and ensure high fertility and egg production performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise daily operations of breeder houses and manage flock health and productivity.
• Implement feeding, lighting, and breeding programs in line with production targets.
• Enforce strict biosecurity, hygiene, and welfare standards.
• Supervise egg collection, grading, sanitation, and transfer to the hatchery.
• Prepare production and performance reports for management.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Poultry Science, or Agriculture.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in poultry or breeder farm management.
• Strong technical and leadership skills with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of biosecurity and flock health management.

3.     HATCHERY SUPERVISOR

The position holder will be responsible for overseeing incubation, hatching, and chick quality control processes to ensure timely delivery of healthy day-old chicks to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise egg setting, incubation, hatching, and chick handling activities.
• Monitor hatchery environment (temperature, humidity, hygiene) and ensure smooth operation of incubators and hatchers.
• Enforce biosecurity and quality standards to maintain high hatchability and chick quality.
• Coordinate chick vaccination, grading, packaging, and dispatch.
• Maintain accurate hatchery records and submit weekly reports.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in hatchery operations.
• Hands-on experience with incubation systems and chick management.
• Strong leadership, organization, and teamwork skills.
