KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, implement, and review underwriting policies, guidelines, and risk appetite in line with company objectives.
- Ensure accurate risk assessment, pricing, and acceptance of general insurance business.
- Oversee portfolio performance, including profitability, loss ratios, and growth across all classes of business.
- Manage and mentor underwriting staff to ensure high performance and compliance with best practices.
- Collaborate with Claims, Reinsurance, Finance, and Business teams to optimise underwriting outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and corporate governance standards.
- Prepare underwriting reports and provide executive management with insights for decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional insurance qualification (ACII, FCII, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in general insurance underwriting, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of underwriting principles across major general insurance classes.
- Proven leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
