The role holder may have limited or frequent contact with children and/or young people either once or more than once a month because he/she will work in the office and in the field. He/she must ensure compliance to and effective implementation of Let’s Build Child Safety Policy all the time.

The region has one of the lowest rates of Secondary Education enrolment globally and a rapidly rising population. In Malawi, Let’s Build was fully incorporated on 13th July 2021 under the Companies Act as a Company Limited by Guarantee, non-profit purpose. It is also registered as an International NGO with Council for Non-governmental Organization (CONGOMA) and NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA).

We cooperate with government to improve public Secondary Education infrastructure by constructing double classroom blocks and pit-latrines through local contractors and communities. We believe well designed and built classrooms help to increase, attendance, improve student outcomes, support better teaching, and reduce student dropouts. We therefore ensure all children and youth have access to a safe, inclusive, and protective learning environment to thrive in.

ROLE PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:

Let’s Build is hiring a temporary Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Coordinator, for a period of three (3) months, to conduct a District Needs Assessment in 4 Districts (Lilongwe, Dowa, Dedza, Salima) and Project Impact Assessment on Let’s Build completed Secondary School infrastructure project across 26 schools in Lilongwe District.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Develop a methodology (using desk-based data) for analysing infrastructure gaps in existing Secondary Schools to cater for new and existing students
  • Analyse data and provide rankings/prioritisation for existing Secondary Schools in most need of new infrastructure
  • Review and recommend improvements to existing Let’s Build District level project impact indicators
  • Develop baseline data set for District level project impact indicators for each selected District
  • Develop baseline data set for Secondary Schools where Let’s Build projects are currently in progress and are planned
  • Develop data set for all Secondary Schools where Let’s Build projects have been implemented
  • Assessing impacts in line with Let’s Build Mission, we build schools to help children access and complete secondary education’ and the Ministry of Education’s overall goal of ‘increased equitable access to quality secondary education for all’.
  • Establishing lessons learnt for future Secondary School construction programming
  • Documenting recommendations for onward planning and scale up

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in Education, Development, Social Sciences or any related field to the assessments. Those with a Master’s Degree will have an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • At least 5 years’ experience in conducting Development/Education program evaluations
  • Vast experience in Data Collection and Analysis, Research Reporting and other related issues and policies.
  • Experience using Kobo Collect data collection tools
  • Proven practical knowledge of education programmes, policies and activities.
  • Excellent writing, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Experience in working with the government partners, district level structures and community stakeholders.
