 About the Role:

The Technical Manager – Overhead line construction works and electrical installation is responsible for providing technical leadership and oversight in the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems and overhead power line projects. The role ensures that all electrical works are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements. The Technical Manager will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manages project schedules, supervises technical staff and contractors, and ensures quality control throughout project implementation. This position also involves developing and reviewing electrical designs, overseeing site inspections, managing risks, and driving compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Technical Oversight: Ensure projects are executed to meet technical specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  2. Project Planning: Collaborate with project managers to develop project plans, resource allocation, and schedules
  3. Design and Engineering: Review and approve designs, calculations, and specifications for electrical and mechanical systems.
  4. Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of engineers, technicians, and quantity surveyors
  5. Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control procedures.
  6. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks
  7. Client Liaison: Communicate technical aspects to clients
  8. Cost Management: Optimize project costs
  9. Business Development: Contribute to proposal writing, tendering, and business growth
  10. Training and Development: Identify training needs and develop programs.
  11. Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and company policies
  12. Supply Chain Management: Source materials, equipment, and services
  13. Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies
  14. Documentation: Maintain technical records, reports, and documentation
  15. Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams.

Requirements and Skills

  1. Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
  2. 5+ years of experience in project engineering, management, or related field.
  3. Professional certifications (e.g., PE, CEng).
  4. Strong technical knowledge
  5. Leadership and management skills.
  6. Communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  8. Business acumen.
