Sports Teacher & Swimming Coach (Preferably Female)
St Andrew’s International Primary School, Blantyre is seeking to appoint a dynamic, motivated, and enthusiastic Sports Teacher & Swimming Coach (preferably female) to join our vibrant team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Physical Education lessons across the Primary School.
- Coach and develop swimming skills for pupils of varying abilities, ensuring safety and steady progress.
- Organise and oversee school sporting events, inter-house and inter-school competitions.
- Prepare and train school teams for local and regional tournaments.
- Deliver after-school clubs and extracurricular sports activities.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress in sports and swimming.
- Ensure safety standards, child protection measures, and safeguarding protocols are followed at all times, especially in and around the swimming pool.
- Support and encourage pupils of all abilities to achieve their personal best.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers to promote cross-curricular links through sports.
- Contribute to whole-school events, assemblies, and community engagement through sport.
Qualifications & Skills:
- A relevant teaching qualification in Physical Education or a related field.
- Recognised certification in swimming coaching and/or life-saving.
- Previous teaching/coaching experience with children is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate, inspire, and build confidence in young learners.
- Clear understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and the responsibility to create a safe and supportive environment for all pupils.
- Commitment to promoting the welfare of children and upholding the values of the school.
