The Company holds an 85% interest in the Kayelekera Uranium Project in Karonga, Malawi. Lotus is committed to generating value for its shareholders, customers, and communities where it operates. Lotus is undertaking refurbishment and maintenance of the process plant and other facilities in preparation for production to commence in the near future.

SENIOR COMMUNITY LIASON OFFICER

Employment Type: Fixed Term (12 months)

Position Summary:

The Senior Community Liaison Officer will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the Community Development Agreement, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, various community engagement activities including meetings and implementation of the Grievance Mechanism Procedure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain up to date stakeholders meeting schedule.
  • Stakeholders engagement, build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders, such as employees, customers, suppliers, NGOs, and government agencies.
  • Monitor and report on both negative and positive social impacts.
  • Stay updated on CSR trends and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Preparation of visuals and presentations for meetings and conducting presentations.
  • Promote employee involvement in CSR initiatives
  • Represent the company at industry and community events
  • Assist with developing and implementing social procedures and supporting tools.
  • Managing and monitoring major projects’ social impacts and supporting project managers.
  • Provide support within the Environment and Social department as required.

Emergency Preparedness:

  • Assist in responding to community incidents including communication, emergency management and reporting.

Qualifications, Experience & Competencies:

  • BSc in Social or Community Studies, with at least 5 years of experience
  • BSc in Environmental Sciences, at least 7 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of microsoft (PowerPoint, excel and word).
  • Proven experience in CSR, sustainability, or related roles.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for social and environmental issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid driving license will be an advantage.
