                              Job Description for Physics and Computer Teacher – Malawi

Summary:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

International Christian Academy is urgently looking for a qualified teacher with outstanding experience and skills in the following subjects: Physics and Computer studies. The Physics and Computer Studies teacher serves as an influential person in children’s lives. Teaching is a calling; and in that calling, each teacher has a mission to fulfill, a responsibility to the children being served and a daily accounting to the Lord. The teacher must model that attitude out of the immeasurable love of Christ. Some of the duties include planning and delivering lessons to engage students and inspire learning.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • The Teacher will be directly reporting to the Principal of International Christian Academy
  • Writing schemes and update daily work in the records section
  • Submit lesson plans for the upcoming week to the Principal of School every fortnight on Fridays.
  • Align lesson plans to COTNI Learning Standards as well as the MOEST standards for Malawi.
  • Teach by using approved curriculum (MSCE) with a variety of learner centered teaching methods.
  • Facilitate and evaluate classroom assessment of students to determine success of instruction.
  • Create and submit exam results to the Principal; weekly, monthly, mid-term, and end of term.
  • Implement suggested discipline plan for students who consistently misbehave
  • Report serious offenses to the Principal of School
  • Supervise students at all times inside and outside of classrooms
  • Monitor learning and classroom behavior through active teaching.
  • Record and report classroom assessment results to the head of the school.
  • Participate in COTN in-service trainings.
  • Abide by the teacher code of conduct
  • Represent Children of the Nations through godly living.
  • Participate in extra-curricular activities as required by the academy from time to time

 Skills, Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in science majoring physics and minor or able to teach Computer Studies.
  • Teaching experience of Physics and Computer Studies not less than 5 years.
  • Experienced teacher registered with T.C.M. and ability to work in flexible cross-cultural environments.
  • Emotionally stable, mature and married person.
  • Spiritually mature, honest, transparent, and sensitivity to people.
  • Ability to gather and transfer knowledge.
  • Passion for each child to reach his or her fullest potential.
  • Commitment to Christ with a servant’s heart.
