Habitat for Humanity Malawi is seeking to fill the following vacant positions as part of the organization’s institutional strengthening and strategic realignment process in line with the new Country Strategic Plan (2025–2030).

POSITION: Resource Development, Partnership and Sustainability Manager

Department: Resource Development Unit

Reports to: National Director

Location: Lilongwe

Job Summary

The position holder will lead all fundraising efforts including prospecting and acquiring potential investors & donors locally as well as internationally; managing donor and partner engagement, oversee sustainability efforts, youth and volunteer engagements (local and global), policy influencing and advocacy, and communications. The position holder’s major role will be to strengthen HFHM’s external engagements and long-term financial resilience ensuring sustainability of operations for program delivery.

The position holder will work closely with The National Director and Programs Director to develop effective strategies for fund raising for projects with existing as well as newly established partnership structure.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development and Fundraising

  • Lead the development of a Fundraising Strategy with diverse funding
    streams in line with the new five-year Country Strategic Plan.
  • Research and secure new funding streams from international &
    national, private for profit and non-profit entities, multilateral and
    bilateral funding sources.
  • Identify and track funding prospects as they arise and maintain the
    appropriate tracking tools in collaboration with GFOI and Resource
    Development
  • Play a key role in the development and maintenance of HFHMs
    database of potential funders, consultants’ roasters, and partners for
    business development.
  • In coordination with GFOI, ensure that the Go/No/Go has been properly completed from the onset of pre-positioning.

Partnerships Development

  • Identifies and builds strategic relationships with key partners i.e INGOs, private sectors, government wings and bilateral and multilateral agencies.
  • Develop and support new and current partnership engagements
    including identifying and building relationships with prospective
    collaborative partners
  • Develop and manage positive and constructive relationships with
    potential funders, internal and external stakeholders, including meeting stakeholders and funders on own or with program staff.
  • Manage HFHM’s engagement in active frameworks and consortia, including maintaining relationships with other framework/consortia participants and coordinating meetings where required.

Networking Communications and Image Building

  • Facilitates the development of a communications strategy.
  • Liaises with communications to produce and circulate materials aimed
    at increasing HFHM visibility through leaflets, brochures, annual
    reports, etc.
  • Participation in networking events as required to ensure that HFHM’s
    interests are represented and to acquire relevant information.
  • Suggest relevant networks from the funding point of view.

Sustainability, Policy Influencing and Advocacy

  • Leads the design and implementation of long-term sustainable
    strategies that align with HFHM goals.
  • Keeps abreast of government policies and ensure all HFHM practices
    are in line with the mandated standards
  • Facilitates the development of an advocacy strategy for HFHM.
  • Leads advocacy efforts for affordable housing.

Youth and Volunteer Engagement

  • Facilitates the development of a Youth and Volunteer Engagement
    Framework
  • Work with AO Youth and Volunteer Engagement focal persons to
    ensure the framework aligns with AO’s framework

Capacity Building

  • Develop the capacity of program of project staff with the aim to enable them to handle all aspects of obtaining and managing funds from donors.
  • Contribute to the development of training material and “tools” in fund
    raising and partnership.
  • Conduct training in funding techniques.
  • Contribute to the development of grant management (pre-award)
    materials.

Education and Experience Required

  • Master’s degree (eg. Social Sciences, International Development
    Studies, International management, Marketing & Communications,
    public relations/business development)
  • At least seven years’ proven track record of fundraising experience in a non-profit organization or international organizations. Sound knowledge of institutional and government donors and funding policies.
  • Experience in developing and implementing successful entrepreneurial
    approaches to business development with the corporate sector.
  • Experience working in Public Private Partnership environment.
  • Good research and analytical skills; Strong verbal and written communication skills, fluent in English both in writing and in speech.
