The Mining and Minerals Regulatory Authority invites applications from suitably qualified applicants to fill the following positions existing at the Mining and Minerals Regulatory Authority.

Job Title: Registration and Licensing Officer
Grade: MR5
Reporting to : Senior Registration and Licensing Officer
Location: Mining and Minerals Regulatory Authority.

Purpose of the Job

To facilitate Mineral rights functions.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Assessing applications for registration, licensing as well as term extensions, including review of all plans associated with tenement applications as required under mining legislation.
  2. Processing and ensuring timely and transparent registration of new licence and term extension applications ensuring that accurate records are maintained in compliance with mining legislation.
  3. Conducting due diligence and evaluation of licence applicants to ensure technical and financial competencies are fulfilled prior to registration and licensing.
  4. Maintaining and updating registration and licensing records and data administration systems including the mineral rights cadastre.
  5. Preparing maps with the right coordinate system and verifying absence of overlaps and ensuring correct application or license boundaries.
  6. Investigating, responding to inquiries and; taking action on all complaints and requests related to registration and licensing matters.
  7. Compiling appropriate registration and licensing related reports as required from time to time.
  8. Monitor and ensure effective, transparent and timely submission of licence requirements, including reports and data, and fees payments, including royalties, ground rentals, from clients of the Authority.
  9. Ensure the effective issuance of permits for the export of minerals, verifying that all royalties and other obligations are fulfilled as required by the Act.
  10. Preparation of workplans, budgets, and activity proposals.

Minimum Education Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Geological/Geomechanical Engineering, Geology, or a related field from a recognized and accredited Institution.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in registration, licensing, or compliance roles, preferably within a regulatory environment.
