Habitat for Humanity Malawi (HFHM), an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to improving housing conditions in Malawi. Established in 1986, HFHM has supported more than 133,600 people to access safe and decent housing. Guided by our vision, “A Malawi where everyone has a decent place to live”. HFHM operates from its head office in Area 14, Lilongwe, with active programs in Lilongwe, Blantyre, Zomba, Thyolo, Mulanje, Dedza, and Mzuzu.
Habitat for Humanity Malawi seeks to recruit a Project Officer to support its projects with initiative of constructing houses for the vulnerable groups.
This recruitment is part of the organization’s institutional strengthening and strategic realignment process in line with the new Country Strategy (2025–2030). The strategy emphasizes three focus areas:

| Job Summary | Responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the Shifting Identities and Rebuilding Communities Project, ensuring that project activities are carried out according to schedule, budget, standards, and principles of Habitat for Humanity Malawi and in line with donor (Gale Family) requirements. |

Main Responsibilities
- Project Implementation and Coordination
- Coordinate the overall implementation of the Shifting Identities project in Nanchidwa, Mulanje, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and budget.
- Lead beneficiary mobilization, selection, and verification processes in collaboration with VDCs, ADCs, and other community structures, ensuring transparency and adherence to HFHM selection criteria.
- Coordinate training programs for local artisans on safe house construction techniques and for individual community members on land tenure and property rights.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Policy Integration
- Work with government partners (District Social Welfare, Disaster Management Affairs, Environmental Affairs, Public Works) and community structures to ensure coordinated project delivery.
- Assist partner families in securing legal title to their land to ensure stability and security of beneficiary families.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning (MEAL) and Reporting
- Submit timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the supervisor and prepare donor reports for the Gale Family in collaboration with the RDP and MEAL teams.
- Lead project monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) activities, including data collection, quality assessments, and documentation of lessons learned.
- Financial and Resource Management
- Provide day-to-day management of project resources, ensuring efficient utilization and value for money.
- Collaborate with the Finance Specialist to monitor project expenditures, enforce internal controls, and ensure compliance with the approved budget.
- Ensure project goals are met according to budget and time allocations, proactively identifying and addressing challenges.
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, Community Development, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Humanities, or any other related field from a reputable institution.
- Minimum of 5 years’ working experience in project management, community development, and mobilization, preferably in housing or shelter programming.
