Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute (SMEDI) is a parastatal organization mandated to promote the development and growth of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country, intends to recruit the services of well-qualified, experienced and result oriented persons to fill various positions tenable at its various duty stations located in Lilongwe, Blantyre and Mponela as follows:
Position: Production Assistant (Non-Established)
Job Purpose
To provide general support and assistance to the production team throughout a production cycle
Qualifications and attributes
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE);
- Diploma in Human and Food Nutrition or its equivalent from a recognized and accredited tertiary institution;
- At least two (2) years practical experience in food production and processing;
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene protocols;
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy work environment;
- Team player;
- Time conscious.
Selected Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and assembly of food items and ingredients for production;
- Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment;
- Assist with the operation of machinery and equipment on the production line;
- Pack finished products accurately and efficiently;
- Ensure proper storage and handling of food items and ingredients to avoid contamination;
- Comply with health and safety guidelines within the production area;
- Carry out quality checks on products and ingredients;
- Assist with inventory control and stocking where necessary.
