To strengthen our local Malawi team, SICPA Malawi Limited is seeking a highly motived individual to join its team in the following position:

PHYSICAL SECURITY & QEHS OFFICER (Blantyre)

Job Purpose:

Ensuring the physical security of SICPA employees, sites, supply chain, and operations. Responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the security level of all sites and local operations to support the commercial and operational objectives of the company in accordance with local legislation and internal standards. Ensuring that all SICPA policies including those concerning Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental protection are respected.

The Physical Security & QEHS Officer will be responsible for:

Physical Security:

  • Executing the security plan across all sites locally, ensuring conformity with established corporate security standards and guidelines.
  • Escalating any identified security threats or vulnerabilities to our staff, sites, solution, local operations, and supply chains; conduct related investigations as requested.
  • Providing emergency response training to all employees.
  • Implementing security awareness programs for all employees.
  • Overseeing 3rd party security providers, ensuring contract guard force appropriately follows security plan.
  • Maintaining strong working relationship with local law enforcement agencies and emergency services providers.

Quality Strategy & Organization:

  • Deploying and maintaining the local QEHS (Quality, Environment, Health and Safety) System in close collaboration and under the lead of functional leaders based in headquarter (Switzerland).
  • EH&S requirements deployment and monitoring.
  • Implementing and driving an adequate local Operational Quality Organization including supplier quality, incoming inspection and operational quality (when applicable).
  • Ensuring Calibration process for devices is deployed and implemented. (when applicable).
  • Continuously drive and promote Performance and Quality culture and initiatives across teams.
  • Deploying the SICPA Integrated Management System (SIMS) strategy and approaches

Environment, Health & Safety:

  • Implementing an EH&S culture by deploying the headquarter guidelines.
  • Performing the risk analyses, conduct operational audits, investigate the EH&S events
  • Ensuring the EH&S legal watch activity locally and its conformity assessment accordingly
  • Reporting the KPI and global goal achievement to the headquarter.

Operational Quality (When Applicable):

  • Coordinating, implementing and improving Supplier Quality Assurance policy and activities for Local Suppliers,
  • Ensuring Incoming Quality Inspections, in process and final controls are in place and recorded.
  • Managing and monitor non-conformities, block and free material and escalate problems related to supplied materials & products.
  • Ensuring that feedback loop, improvement and preventive actions are defined, implemented and effectiveness confirmed.

Continuous Improvement and Performance:

  • Controlling and improving Local Entity Quality through effective tools and methodologies,
  • Promoting Quality Tools and support related trainings (8D, SPC, Non-Conformance Monitoring, Lean, 6 Sigma)
  • Implementing and adapting established Quality Standards,
  • Ensuring that Process Control Plans and Outgoing Controls are implemented.
  • Deploying adequate systems to ensure prevention, defect analysis and correction,
  • Conducting Operational Audits,
  • Ensuring correct data reporting according to Global and/or Quality KPIs, lead Local Quality Improvement, develop & coordinate quality improvement programs.

 SIM ISO Certification, EHS Compliance, Customer Quality:

  • Following a certification roadmap, ensure ISO certifications as required by headquarters (ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001 or others when applicable),
  • Ensuring compliance with SICPA Internal Standards, such as EHS, Risk Management and Context Analysis
  • Coordinating the deployment and implementation of applicable processes and practices,
  • Conducting processes internal audits,
  • Managing locally the customer satisfaction,
  • Be the Local Single Point of Contact for Customer Complaints, establish 8D Reports, escalate major & critical Customer Complaints to Global Quality Assurance & Compliance, manage the Return Material Authorization process in case of Non-Conform product.

Personal qualities required, abilities:

  • Have excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Be curious but with a very deep sense for confidentially
  • Have the ability to very quickly identify, extract and pre-qualify key information on specific and varying subjects, and from various sets of raw data
  • Have the ability to collect and analyze information in a very structured manner
  • Be meticulous and quality oriented and be a team player in a multi-cultural group
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively interact with internal and end users’ organizations at multiple levels.
  • Technically comfortable with the software technologies.
  • Availability to travel regularly in the country for audits if needed and sometimes to travel abroad.

Educational Qualifications, Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree in environmental health science or Occupational health & safety or equivalent
  • Working experience in Service Delivery preferable in international companies with headquarters abroad.
  • 5 years in Process & Quality field and 3-4 years in project / team management.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the police, army, or related field with successfully overseeing security operations.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards (ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001),
  • Excellent experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Tools,
  • Good knowledge of physical security systems management (CCTV, access control, anti-intrusion)
  • Experience in Customer Satisfaction and Complaints Management,
  • Experience in Supplier Quality Management System and Process Audits,
  • Knowledge of statistical process control and 6Sigma
  • Local safety certification if applicable
  • Knowledge of the local regulation related to E&HS
