Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) is a locally registered nongovernmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 to complement Government’s efforts in in the fight against HIV and AIDS and other health related issues.

MACRO’s Vision is “Malawi populace free of ill-Health” and its Mission is “Transform lives of Malawians through provision of high-quality HIV and AIDS, and other health related services”.

With funding from CDC, MACRO is implementing the IMPACT Project whose purpose is: To strengthen effective measures to address unmet needs for HTS in the CDC supported districts towards the attainment of 95-95-95 goals.

MACRO invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position under IMPACT Project.

Job Title: Pharmacy Technician (3)

Reports to: Clinic Incharge

Location: MACRO Clinics (Mzuzu, Lilongwe, and Blantyre)

About the Role: The Pharmacy Technician will assist the Clinic Incharge in dispensing medications, preparing prescriptions, managing inventory, and providing customer service in a healthcare setting. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy, safety, and efficiency of medication dispensing processes while maintaining quality service to patients and healthcare providers.

Education QualificationsKnowledge and Skills
  • Diploma or equivalent; Pharmacy Technician certification preferred.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and professional standards.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and pharmaceutical products.
  • Registered with the Malawi Poisons Board
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication dispensing.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy computer systems and software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and adaptability.
  • Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
Key DutiesMode of Application
  • Receive and review prescription orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain medication inventory, monitor stock levels, and check expiration dates.
  • Order and restock medications and supplies as per pharmacy procedures.
  • Assist patients by providing information on medication usage, dosage, and potential side effects.
  • Adhere to all pharmacy regulations, policies, and privacy protocols.
  • Keep the pharmacy work area clean, organized, and safe.
