INTRODUCTION
The Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) is responsible for Procurement, Warehousing, Sales and Distribution of adequate, affordable and approved and quality medicines and medical supplies to all public health facilities in Malawi.
CMST is seeking to recruit transformative and visionary persons to support it to effectively fulfill its mandate across its establishments in Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Blantyre as follows:
PHARMACIST-IN-CHARGE
Job Title: Pharmacist-in-Charge
Job Grade: MS4
Location: Lilongwe
Responsible to : Branch Manager (MS3)
Responsible for : Pharmacist (MS5)
No. of Positions : One (1)
Purpose of the Job
lo provide oversight of all pharmaceutical operations within the warehouse, including inbound and outbound activities, and ensure compliance with regulatory and operational requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensuring that warehouse operations comply with the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority Act, applicable regulations, and Good Warehousing and Distribution Practices.
- Supervising and monitoring warehouse activities and processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensuring that all inventory transactions are accurately captured in real time in the ERP system.
- Ensuring secure maintenance of documentation relating to receipts, customer orders and shipments. Coordinating and overseeing third party logistics providers involved in last-mile distribution to ensure value for money.
- Liaising with the Finance Department to ensure accurate customer invoicing
- Advising management on stock status and stock movement trends.
- Ensuring that warehouse facilities, equipment and material-handling processes are maintained. optimised. safe and efficient.
- Developing, maintaining and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for warehouse operations.
- Assessing staff training and development needs and implementing capacity-building interventions.
- Preparing work plans and budgets and managing the performance of subordinate staff.
Job and Person Specifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from a recognised institution
- Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent.
- Registration with the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA).
- Postgraduate training in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field will be an added advantage.
Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years’ progressive experience in a busy pharmaceutical warehouse environment.
Skills and Personal Attributes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP, systems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
