1. Operations Manager
Introduction
AfriOils Ltd is a buyer and processor of raw groundnuts and dry beans based at Njewa in Lilongwe.
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Operations Manager to oversee our production function at our factory at Njewa. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in production management, possess outstanding leadership qualities, and display a deep understanding of the agroprocessing industry, particularly groundnuts and dry beans.
Position Overview
The Operations Manager is a senior level role responsible for the day-to-day activities of the production function. The successful candidate will:
- oversee a team of skilled professionals in production, facilities management and engineering;
- work to optimize production workflows;
- ensure the efficient, safe, and profitable running of the production process;
- ensure compliance with industry standards; anddrive innovation to enhance productivity and quality.
Primary Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Operational Strategies: Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Manage all operations and logistics of the production function.
- Production Oversight: Oversee the entire production process including planning, scheduling and quality control processes to ensure efficiency and quality standards are met.
- Process Optimization: Implement and refine production processes to maximize output and reduce waste.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all products meet stringent quality and safety standards.
- Compliance: Maintain compliance with all relevant industry regulations and standards.
- Innovation: Drive innovation within the production process to enhance productivity and product quality.
- Budget Management: Oversee production budgets and manage costs effectively.
- Reporting: Generate regular reports on production metrics and progress and reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with other departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing operations team.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.
- Set performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews. Financial Management
- Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the production team to achieve high performance levels.
- Prepare and manage the operational budget.
- Monitor and control operational costs to maximize profitability.
- Analyze financial data and operational metrics to inform decision-making.
Process Improvement
- Identify areas for process optimization and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Utilize technology and innovation to improve operational efficiency.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Food Science, Business Administration, Engineering or related field. MBA would be a unique advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the agroprocessing industry.
- Strong knowledge of agroprocessing techniques, equipment, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, financial performance, and operational metrics.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Position Overview
The Sales Manager has a critical role that involves strategizing, managing, and optimizing the sales operations of agroprocessed products in regional and international markets. This role requires a dynamic leader who can drive sales growth, expand market reach, and foster strong international relationships.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement AfriOils’ Export Sales Strategy: Create comprehensive sales strategies to penetrate and expand regional and international markets, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify opportunities, trends, and competitive landscape in various global regions.
- Lead Sales Team: Manage, mentor, and motivate the export sales team to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with international customers and partners.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all export activities adhere to international trade laws and regulations.
- Sales Reporting: Monitor sales performance and provide detailed reports and presentations to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Negotiate Contracts: Oversee the negotiation and closing of contracts with international buyers.
- Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with logistics teams to ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage export sales budgets, ensuring optimal use of resources.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Agribusiness, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: Proven track record of at least 10 years in export sales, preferably within the nut, bean and/or agroprocessing industry.
- Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and motivating a sales team.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in multiple languages being advantageous.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for market trends and opportunities.
- Negotiation Skills: Proficiency in negotiating contracts and closing deals.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of international trade regulations and compliance requirements.

3. Finance & Administration Manager

AfriOils Ltd is a buyer and processor of raw groundnuts and dry beans based at Njewa in Lilongwe. The company, which mainly trades in export markets, is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Finance & Administration Manager (FAM) to join our executive team.
Position Overview
This role is integral to our mission of delivering quality agroprocessed products to our customers in regional and international markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial and administrative operations, strategic planning, and ensuring sustainable growth and value creation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Work closely with the executive team to develop and implement company-wide strategies and policies that support the company’s long-term goals and provide financial insights to support decision-making, including executing functional strategies in the areas of:
- Financial Reporting: to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting; o Financial Planning and Analysis: overseeing financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis; and
- Treasury Management: conducting corporate finance activities such as currency management, cash flow management and various strategies, including where appropriate, raising funds for the business from various sources, to ensure AfriOils’ financial stability.
- Audit and Compliance: Coordinate external audits; ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and organizational policies.
- Risk Management: Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Contract Management: Review and manage contracts and agreements, ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Stakeholder Management: Maintain relationships with banks, other financial institutions and external auditors.
- Administrative Oversight: Oversee human capital functions including recruitment, employee relations, payroll and performance management. Manage IT and office administration.
- Team oversight: Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance and administration team, fostering a culture of ethical behaviour, excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Chartered Accountant; full membership of ICAM is a must. An MBA is a distinct advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) at least 3 of which were in a senior financial role, preferably within the agroprocessing or export sector.
- Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, strategic planning, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of tax and financial regulations and reporting standards applicable in Malawi, and risk management.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Integrity: High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Proficiency in using CRM & accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
