Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund supplies 1 million smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms vastly more productive. Our 8,000+ team is drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. With operations across six core countries in Africa, we make farmers more prosperous by providing quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural training to improve harvests. About the Role
We are looking for field senior officers to support the implementation of tree program activities in our operational districts. You will report to the Senior District Supervisor of your district and manage at least five seasonal field staff. You will be responsible for field team and data management to ensure the program hits its target.
Responsibilities
Field Team Management
- Assist the Senior District Supervisor in the recruitment and hiring of seasonal staff
- Motivate and mentor field staff
- Provide leadership to on-site staff
- Train seasonal field staff on various program activities
- Verify and validate field reports through spot checks to ensure they are a true reflection of what is on the ground
- Monitor seasonal field staff performance
- Manage material distribution
Manage field Communication
- Provide actionable feedback to both the senior district supervisor and field assistants.
- Share field reports to senior district supervisors through both weekly check-in and report
- Share program updates with field officers in the overlapping areas of operation
- Plan and implement planting follow-up activities
Field Data management
- Compile and submit field reports (KPIs) on each designated date
- Analyze field reports (KPIs) and recommend ways of improving low KPIs
- Collect and update village verification data
Conduct seedlings distribution data reconciliation

Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:
- A diploma in Agriculture, Forestry, Rural Development, Community Development, or a related field.
- 1 year of proven experience in tree nursery production, community engagement, and partnership development.
- Knowledge of forestry/environmental management/agricultural practices and challenges in the local context is desirable.
- An understanding of community dynamics, including cultural norms, district/village institutional structures, and communication patterns.
- Exhibit a display of independence while fostering collaboration within a dynamic team.
- Proficiency in performing computer functions such as emails, and basic Microsoft Excel functions.
- Skills in community mobilization
- Fluency in English and Chichewa required
- The ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid driver’s license will be an added advantage
