Pakachere Institute of Health and Development Communication is a registered local NGO that specialises in social and behaviour change communication and delivery of specialised HIV and sexual and reproductive health services for key and priority populations in Malawi. We aim to empower all Malawians to choose and sustain healthy behaviours through evidence-based health and development communication, community mobilization, advocacy and delivery of stigma free health care services. Pakachere wishes to recruit highly competent, proactive and self-driven individual to fill the following vacancy that is available:

Responsible to:         Administrative Officer

Key relationship:     Receptionist/Gardener

Working hours:        40 hours a week

Contract:                     Full time, 1 year contract – renewable

Location:                    Head Office

Purpose of Job

Reporting to the Administrative Officer, the Office Assistant/Cleaner will provide support to the organisation by maintaining the cleanliness of the entire office space and works station in which he/she works by performing various cleaning and dispatching duties/he securely delivers packages, documents, written and verbal messages and other items to intended location or recipient in a timely manner. Responsible for all basic cleaning in and around the facility/Office building. This can entail dusting, mopping, sweeping and cleaning smudges off windows and doors.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensures the workstations and offices are always clean.
  • Ensures that cleaning materials are always available.
  • Ensuring restrooms are cleaned and re-stocked and sanitized.
  • Ensures that all offices, entrances and workstations are kept clean daily
  • Dusting of furniture and blinds as well as cleaning of windows and doors.
  • Emptying of rubbish bins daily.
  • Polishing the floor quarterly or as and when need arise
  • Washing of office crockery and cutlery excluding personal crockery and cutlery
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Knowledge of international donor funding environment. Those with experience working with USAID funded projects have added advantage.
  • MSCE /JCE
  • Certificate in customer care services
  • Fluency in English.
