Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is a non-profit, independent international humanitarian organization committed to delivering medical aid to populations facing crises, with a steadfast commitment to impartiality and without regard to race, religion, creed, or political affiliation. In Malawi, MSF works closely with the Ministry of Health and local communities, focusing on the Cervical Cancer project in Blantyre and Chiradzulu districts, as well as the CBO Project in Zalewa and Dedza districts. The CBO project run by MSF France supports two Community Based Organizations — one in Zalewa, Neno District, and another in Dedza District—to enhance sex workers’ access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) services.
MSFF is looking for its Cervical Cancer Project:
MEDICAL DATA PROCESSING OFFICER– 1 POSITION
Workplace : Blantyre
Type of contract :5 months fixed term Contract
Start date : April 2025
Main purpose of the position
Ensure completion of all activities related to medical data entry and data management into the database. Provide support to data entry activities of Doctors, Nurses, Nurse-Aids, Laboratory Technicians, as well as identify their training needs to provide good service support and reliability of the data collected.
Accountabilities
- Ensure collation and entry of all data identified for collection into the appropriate data management system while ensuring quality of data
- Do quality control of data entry performance on regular basis
- Know and ensure proper use of the software used for recording (i.e., Bahmni, DHIS2, ITAE, IRIS, Next Cloud,etc.)
- Ensure accuracy of the medical data entered the project database on a regular basis, according to MSF protocols and carry out regular back-ups.
- Provide technical support in data entry to Doctors, Nurses, Nurse-Aids and Laboratory Technicians in project and give response to their training needs.
- Provide regular statistical reports for the medical team as well as informing the superior of any missing information, major changes or big differences in data.
Specific Accountabilities
- Running the do.file of data control on STATA periodically.
- Prepare the data clarification form for data verification.
- Ensure the verification in the physical data collection tools in the field (Registers/forms).
- Submit the data clarification form to the supervisors for correction after physical verification.
- Follow up the effectiveness of all the corrections requested in the data clarification form through the datasystems.
- Report- any data issue to the Data Manager or the Study Coordinator and the External Activity Manager(EAM).
- Assist and support the team related to data.
- Collaborate with the Data Manager for all the data reporting.
Requirements
Education: At least Diploma in Information and Technology (IT) or Mathematics field, desirable
Experience: Minimum of one year work experience using DHIS2 database is essential.
Essential working experience of at least one year with MSF or any other organization/NGO.
Experience with Cervical Cancer projects desirable.
Essential knowledge of using a computer including processing of documents (Word, Excel).
Languages English and Chichewa : Competencies Commitment to MSF principles, Teamwork and cooperation, Behavioural Flexibility, Results, and Quality Oriented, & Stress Management.
