M & E SPECIALIST

SAFI, a leading NGO working on livelihoods, nutrition, WASH and Women & Youth empowerment in Malawi, seeks an  M & E Specialist to join our dynamic team. You will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimising our Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) systems, ensuring our programs achieve maximum impact.

What you’ll do:

  • Champion MEAL integration: Build, promote, and maintain robust MEAL systems that track and document results, informing strategic decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Lead with expertise: Develop and implement a comprehensive MEAL strategy, design monitoring plans, tools, baselines, evaluations, and accountability frameworks.
  • Data management: Manage information systems, conduct data analysis (quantitative and qualitative), and turn findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Foster learning and adaptation: Coordinate external evaluations, research, and dissemination, building a culture of learning and knowledge sharing across SAFI.
  • Empower others: Provide technical expertise and capacity building to program staff, ensuring high-quality monitoring and data collection.
  • Promote projects’ visibility: Ensure projects’ visibility by effectively communicating projects’ progress and impacts through regular monitoring and evaluation reports, presentations, and stakeholder meetings.”

Who you are:

  • Passionate about development and making a positive impact on Malawian communities.
  • A self-motivated and organised individual with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in MEAL, specifically in livelihoods projects.
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing surveys, managing data quality, and conducting data analysis.
  • Skilled in writing reports, communicating findings effectively to diverse audiences, and facilitating workshops.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, statistical software (STATA, SPSS), and data collection platforms (ODK).
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Educated to at least first degree in relevant field
