Manager Job Description
Location: Lilongwe, Central Region, Malawi
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Director
Position Overview
We are seeking an honest and experienced Lodge and Restaurant Manager to oversee the daily operations of our small lodge and restaurant. The ideal candidate will foster a welcoming and professional environment to ensure exceptional guest experiences, efficient operations, and the growth of our business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Guest Services
- Ensure guests receive excellent service and have memorable experiences.
- Handle guest inquiries, complaints, and feedback promptly and professionally.
- Oversee the reservation system and manage bookings effectively.
2. Staff Management
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff, ensuring they deliver high-quality service. ▪ Create and maintain work schedules.
- Foster a positive work environment and team culture.
3. Operations
- Oversee daily lodge and restaurant operations.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Manage inventory and supply chain for both the lodge and restaurant.
4. Financial Management
- Coordinate with the accountant to ensure the following are carried out:
- Develop and manage budgets, financial plans, and forecasts.
- Monitor and control expenses to ensure profitability
5. Marketing and Business Development
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract guests.
- Promote the lodge and restaurant through social media and other channels.
- Identify opportunities for business growth and expansion.
6. Maintenance
- Ensure that the property is well-maintained and in excellent condition.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff and contractors for repairs and improvements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a lodge or restaurant manager or in a similar hospitality role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal ability.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work during weekends, holidays, and peak times.
Education
Degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field.
Work Environment:
Typically office-based, requiring the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Working odd hours is inevitable due to the nature of the business.
