Lotus (Africa) Limited is a leading Africa-focused advanced uranium company with significant scale and resources. The Company holds an 85% interest in the Kayerekera Uranium Project in Karonga, Malawi. Lotus is committed to generating value for its shareholders, customers, and communities where it operates. The Company is situated in Karonga, Malawi and has its headquarters in Perth, Australia. Lotus will be undertaking refurbishment and maintenance of the process plant and other facilities in preparation for production to commence in the near future.

Lotus (Africa) Limited invites applications from suitably qualified, energetic, and self-motivated Malawian nationals to join its team at Kayelekera Mine in Karonga District in the position below:

 MAIN CHEF

Employment Type: Full-time

 JOB PURPOSE

The Main Chef will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen operations, ensuring high quality food preparation, maintaining hygiene and safety standards and managing kitchen staff. The role will focus on meal planning, stock control and ensuring nutritional and dietary requirements are met for all personnel at the mine site.

 REPORTING TO:

Camp Services Supervisor

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, prepare, and oversee the cooking of meals for employees and guests, ensuring highquality food standards.
  • Manage kitchen operations, including food safety, hygiene, and adherence to health regulations.
  • Monitor and control food stock levels, ordering ingredients and supplies as needed.
  • Develop meal plans that meet nutritional guidelines and dietary requirements.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring efficiency and teamwork.
  • Ensure cost-effective meal preparation by minimizing waste and optimizing resources.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food storage areas.
  • Enforce workplace health, safety, and sanitation policies in the kitchen.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Camp Services Supervisor.

 QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts, Food Production, or Hospitality Management.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a chef in an industrial kitchen, catering service, or similar environment.
  • Previous experience working in a mining, construction, or remote camp setup is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen management.
  • Ability to prepare diverse meals, including Malawian and international cuisine.
