Position           : Laboratory Assistant, Assistant Pharmacist and  Nurse

General Description of the Roles

Working in a Tea Estate Clinic, the Laboratory Assistant, Assistant Pharmacist and the Nurse will report to the Clinical Officer.

  1. Laboratory Assistant

Required to provide Laboratory services to the Clinic and is licensed to perform the  duties. He/she will be taking and examining specimens and reporting results as well as recording them in a book. In addition, he/she will be required to record data in relevant registers/instruments, perform routine analysis, monitor performance and report to the supervisor following the HMIS and other technical guidelines.

Qualification:  Certificate in Laboratory Technology obtained from accredited institutions and must be registered with Medical Council of Malawi.

  1. Assistant Pharmacist

Required to provide pharmaceutical services to the Clinic and is licensed to perform the  duties. He/she will be dispensing of drugs, making requisition on pharmaceutical supplies and equipment. In addition, but not limited to, he/she will be managing drugs in the pharmacy, bulk store by observing classification, categorization, temperature requirements and expiration.

Qualification:  Certificate in Pharmacy from a recognized institution and must be registered with Pharmacy Medicines and Regulatory Authority of Malawi.

  1. Nurse

Registered nurse or nurse-technician with experience in HIV/AIDS prevention, counseling, care and support.  Primarily providing clinical care to patients in the Clinic including OPD, performing vital signs, and organizing and triaging them as appropriate. Will be required to  provide direct patient care and perform routine medical procedures as well as referring patients to the District Hospital when necessary.

Qualification:  Certificate in Nursing from a recognized institution and must be registered with Nurses & Midwives Council of Malawi.

Key prerequisites for all the positions

  1. Experience: At least not less than five years of working experience.
  2. Complete compliance with all applicable ethical standards.
  3. Computer knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel.
  4. Be ready to work odd hours including Saturdays.
  5. Need to have at least three traceable referees.
