Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) is a locally registered nongovernmental organization (NGO) established in 1995 to complement Government’s efforts in in the fight against HIV and AIDS and other health related issues.
MACRO’s Vision is “Malawi populace free of ill-Health” and its Mission is “Transform lives of Malawians through provision of high-quality HIV and AIDS, and other health related services”.
About Kameza Private Clinic
Kameza Private Clinic is a wholly owned health service enterprise of MACRO established to provide affordable, high-quality healthcare services to the public while contributing to the organization’s long-term sustainability. The Clinic delivers a range of clinical, laboratory, and diagnostic services and serves as part of MACRO’s resource mobilization and social enterprise strategy to support its mission of improving the health and wellbeing of Malawians.
MACRO invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions under Kameza Private Clinic
Job Title: Lab Assistant
Reports to: Clinic Incharge
Location: Blantyre
About the Role: The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for conducting routine laboratory investigations, collecting and processing specimens, maintaining laboratory records, ensuring quality control procedures are followed, and supporting clinicians with timely and accurate laboratory results. The incumbent will actively participate in laboratory testing, quality assurance activities, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and implementation of laboratory safety standards.
Education Qualifications
- Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology or Biomedical Sciences from a recognized institution.
- Registered with the Medical Council of Malawi.
- Minimum of two (2) year experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrated competency in routine laboratory testing.
- Training in Laboratory Quality Management Systems.
- Experience with electronic laboratory information systems.
- Experience working in private healthcare facilities.
- Experience working in a private healthcare setting will be an added advantage.
- Strong customer care and client service orientation.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when required.
