
Malawi Council for Disability Affairs (MACODA)
The Malawi Council for Disability Affairs (MACODA), is a Statutory body established by the Persons with Disabilities Act (No. 4 of 2024).
MACODA’s core mandated is to promote and protect rights and freedoms of persons with disabilities. The Council is an enforcement agency of the Act and is mandated to investigate and carry out inquiries into violations of rights of persons with disabililies. The Council also champions disability programming as well as steering disability mainstreaming in the country’s development including promotion of multisectoral coordination and collaboration; development of standards and guidelines on a rights-based for disability service provision; regulating disability services and programs; promotion of measures and interventions aimed at promoting the realisation of rights of persons with disabilities and registration of persons with disabilities as well as organisations, associations and institutions implementing disability programs.
MACODA is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the tollowing vacant positions existing in the Council.
Job Title: Information and Communication Technology Officer (1 post)
Grade: MCD 5
Reporting to: Human Resource and Administration Manager
Responsible for : To oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of the MACODA’s software applications and systems; managing the institution’s ICT systems and procedures, needs and requirements and ensuring that the Council’s Disability Information Management System (DMIS) is running at all times.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordination of publication and information dissemination system for MACODA
- Provide technical and infrastructure support for the ICT environment at MACODA.
- Managing network administration, maintenance and monitoring.
- Ensure that security and integrity of systems, network and data, are not compromised.
- Maintaining physical security and good order of Information and
- Communication Technologies infrastructure.
- Developing and maintaining internal workflow systems.
- Developing, maintaining and enforcing the Council’s ICT policy.
- Managing and providing support to DMIS network with centre, district and community offices.
- Supporting MACODA programs visibility through digital platforms.
- Capacitating and orienting staff on ICT facilities.
- Maintaining ICT inventories including the library, social media platforms, software assets, hardware and stakeholder communications.
- Facilitate ICT and digital based innovations.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information and Communication Technology obtained from an accredited institution with 5 years of experience working in a similar position.
Personal Attributes and Specifications
- Must have demonstrable skills in computer and network infrastructure.
- Be self-motivated, proactive ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Conversant with data protection relevant legislation governing the Malawi’s ICT sector.
- Ability to implement new infrastructure, software solutions and upgrades
