
Malawi Environment Protection Authority (MEPA)
The Malawi Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) was established by Section 7(1) of the Environment Management Act (EMA) of 2017 as the principal agency for the protection and management of the environment and sustainable utilization of natural resources. MEPA coordinates, monitors, supervises and consults with all relevant stakeholders on all activities relating to the utilization and management of the environment and natural resources.
MEPA is inviting applications from suitable, highly qualified, experienced and motivated candidates to fill the following vacancies tenable at its Secretariat at MEPA House, Nkhalango Street, City Centre, Lilongwe:
C. DIRECTORATE OF PLANNING AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SERVICES
Job Title: ICT Officer (Graphic Designing and Web Management)
Grade: ME5
Reporting to: Senior Environmental Information Management Officer
PURPOSE, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Purpose of the Job
To manage the environmental information and communication systems.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and regularly update environmental information systems to facilitate planning and decision-making at all levels.
- Develop and update MEPA’S ICT strategy, policies and procedures.
- Coordinate the identification of environmental information packaging and distribution.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, servers, and networks (LAN/WAN) and associated devices.
- Design and develop strategies and methodologies for ICT, Ciber security practices and data management techniques.
- Prepare information resources for packaging, distribution and storage.
- Package and publish information and other media resources to a dedicated website for the Authority.
- Perform maintenance of the Local Area Network and computer soft and hardware for continued information access and sharing.
- Oversee system security, including firewall, antivirus programs, backups and disaster recovery plans.
- Provide first-line ICT support: troubleshoot desktop, laptop, printer, network and application issues.
- Monitor and manage network performance, ensure connectivity, maintain services like email, VPN, VolP.
- Conduct in-house staff training in specific Internet, email, database, spreadsheet, and desktop publishing programmes
- Perform any other duties assigned by management
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND PERFORMANCE FACTORS
Qualifications and Experience
BSc Degree in Computers Science or in Systems Design and Analysis with three (3) years of relevant experience.
