Masters Finance Ltd is a newly established Deposit Taking Microfinance Institution committed to delivering modern, inclusive, and technology-driven financial solutions to economically active Malawians. As we commence operations across our network of branchesin Malawi and build toward becoming a commercial bank, we seek a highly capable and strategic Human Resources & Administration Manager to help shape our culture, strengthen our people systems, and ensure operational efficiency.
Position: Human Resources & Administration Manager
Location: Lilongwe, Malawi
Reports To: Chief Finance Officer
Key Purpose of the Role
To lead the Human Resources and Administration function, ensuring that Masters Finance Ltd attracts, develops, motivates, and retains top talent while maintaining efficient administrative operations. The role will support the CFO in building strong institutional capacity and ensuring HR and administrative policies meet organisational, operational, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Human Resources Management
• Develop and implement HR policies, systems, and procedures aligned with organisational strategy and labour laws.
• Manage full-cycle recruitment of staff for all branches and departments.
• Oversee onboarding, induction, and staff orientation programs.
• Coordinate performance management systems and support managers in setting KPIs.
• Lead employee training, capacity building, and talent development initiatives.
• Manage compensation and benefits, including payroll inputs and employee welfare programs.
• Maintain accurate HR records and implement a robust and efficient HR information system.
2. Employee Relations & Culture Development
• Promote a positive work culture, high staff morale, and teamwork across branches.
• Serve as the primary contact for employee grievances and coordinate resolution processes.
• Advise management on disciplinary matters, ensuring consistency and procedural fairness.
• Support initiatives that foster diversity, inclusion, and employee engagement.
3. Administration & Support Services
• Oversee general administration including office management, logistics, procurement, and asset management.
• Ensure safe, well-maintained work environments across all branches.
• Manage company vehicles, travel arrangements, utilities, and office supplies.
• Maintain administrative policies in compliance with RBM, corporate governance guidelines and policy of Masters Finance Ltd.
4. Compliance & Reporting
• Ensure HR and administrative operations comply with Malawi labour laws and RBM guidelines.
• Prepare periodic HR and admin reports for senior management and the Board.
• Support internal and external audits related to HR and administration.
5. Strategic Support
• Work with the CFO and senior leadership to align HR strategy with overall business goals.
• Drive organisational change initiatives and support Masters Finance Ltd’s transition to commercial banking.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
• Professional HR certification (IPM, SHRM, CIPD) is a strong advantage.
• Minimum 8 years experience in HR and administration, preferably in banking or microfinance.
• Strong knowledge of Malawi labour laws, HR best practices, and performance management systems.
• Experience in managing multi-branch administrative operations is an added advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
