JOB VACANCY – GRIEVANCE OFFICER
Location : Tea Estate in Thyolo
Start Date : April 2026
General Description of the Role
A Tea Estates is seeking a dedicated and impartial Grievance Officer to join our Human Resources team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all employee grievances are received, documented, investigated, and resolved in a fair, confidential, and timely manner. This role is central to promoting a safe, respectful, and compliant workplace for all employees in line with policies, national labour laws, international labour standards and certification requirements.
Some of the Key requirements
- Grievance Handling & Investigation
- Receive and register employee grievances confidentially.
- Support investigation processes, including interviews and evidence gathering.
- Assess urgency and risk levels of cases.
- Policy Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate grievance records and case files.
- Prepare regular reports on grievance trends.
- Ensure all grievance procedures comply with labour laws and certification standards.
- Offer guidance on grievance procedures and reporting mechanisms
- Support continuous improvement of grievance processes.
- Disciplinary Support
- Assist in fact-finding for disciplinary cases.
- Follow up on implementation of disciplinary outcomes.
- General HR Support
- Assist with onboarding, employee welfare, and HR administrative tasks.
- Facilitate grievance-handling trainings for committees and teams.
- Participate in internal audits and compliance checks.
Qualifications and Key prerequisites
- Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Labour Studies, or related field.
- 2–5 years’ HR experience, preferably in grievance handling, certification, or related functions.
- Knowledge of international standards (Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, ILO).
- Training in conflict resolution, labour law, or mediation is an advantage.
