Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international non-governmental Organization registered in the Vatican, with a mission to accompany, serve and advocate for forcibly displaced people that they may heal, learn and determine their own future. JRS programmes are currently found in over 58 countries, serving refugees, other forcibly displaced persons and members of the host communities. The main programmes provided are in the field of Education, Livelihoods, Reconciliation, Advocacy and Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support. JRS facilitates involvement of individuals and communities and promotes regional and global cooperation and networking on behalf of refugees and the forcibly displaced.

JRS Malawi seeks to recruit a temporary Finance & Administration Assistant (INTERN).

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Lilongwe,Malawi

 Key Responsibilities

  1. Preparation of Payment Vouchers
  2. Inputting payments into Electronic Payments System
  3. Ensuring that all payments are adequately supported by third party documentation.
  4. Supporting the budget preparation
  5. Posting financial data into Navision Accounting system.
  6. Preparation of bank reconciliations.
  7. Supporting all financial and administrative tasks.
  8. Any other duties assigned from time to time on need basis.

Qualifications and required values

  • Applicant should have a diploma in Accounting .ICAM/PAEC is highly prefered.
  • High integrity, unquestionable honesty;Courageous, Strong mind and highly dedicated to professionalism.
  • Commitment to JRS’s mission, vision and values; the ability to convey with enthusiasm JRS’s role in accompanying and serving forcibly displaced people and to advocate for their right to protection and a life in dignity.
  • Ready to take this task as a calling.

Basis of agreement/working arrangement

  • The successful candidate will be offered a 6 months temporary and internship agreement . PLEASE TAKE NOTE THIS IS AN INTERNSHIP POSITION AND THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT SOME DAYS OF THE WEEK THE INTERN MIGHT BE WORKING FROM HOME. The intern is expected to start soon.
