VACANCY ADVERT – Electrical Engineer

We are hiring an Electrical Engineer who will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all electrical works for our Contract.

Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve contractor-submitted electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and equipment layout plans for both the water treatment plant and the solar PV system.
  • Performing a wide range of engineering tasks by operating computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment.
  • Ensure seamless integration of the solar PV plant’s electrical output with the water treatment facility’s medium and low-voltage distribution systems
  • Supervise the installation of all electrical systems, including MV/LV switchgear, transformers, variable frequency drives (VFDs) for pumps and motors, solar inverters, combiner boxes, and the PV array.
  • Experience in installation and commissioning of pumping equipment and other electrical related works for water supply infrastructure projects.
  • Supervising or training project team members.
  • Estimating material, Labor, or construction costs for budget preparation.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive commissioning plans for the entire electrical system.
  • Witness and validate factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for major equipment (switchgear, transformers, generators).
  • Lead the performance testing of the solar PV system, including IV curve tracing, insulation resistance testing, and functional checks of the monitoring system.
  • Oversee the startup and synchronization of backup generators and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems critical to the water treatment process.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for electrical-related issues for contractors, clients, and utility representatives.
  • Manage the electrical project schedule, budget, and material procurement.
  • Enforce a strict safety culture, including reviewing and approving Method of Statements (MOS) and ensuring compliance for electrical safety.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure work quality and adherence to design specifications.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum of 15 years experience in electrical works for water supply infrastructure project.
  • Able to read and write and speak fluently in Contract Language (English).

Specific Experience:

  • Five (5) projects as an Electrical Engineer in the last 10 years 1/2
  • Experience in installation and commissioning of pumping equipment and other electrical related works for water supply infrastructure projects
