Centre for the Development of People (CEDEP), is a local non-government organization whose mission is to create, promote and protect an enabling legal and social environment for the full realization of the well-being of sexual minorities and vulnerable populations. CEDEP is a human rights organization established in November 2005, and registered under the Trustees Incorporation Act of 1962.

CEDEP is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced Malawians for the following Position to be based at the Head Office, Lilongwe.

DRIVER

Location:      Head Office, Lilongwe

Supervisor:  Human Resource and Administration Officer

Position Summary

 The Driver will provide logistical support services to the district staff in fulfilling their tasks to meet their targets. She/he works under close guidance and support from the District Coordinator to support the Project staff in the implementation of quality HIV testing services in the community and linkages between HIV testing services and care and treatment services.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Driving staff in the course of duties
  • Collecting and delivering mails and other official documents
  • Cleaning and washing Company motor vehicle.
  • Checking levels of fuel, oil, engine coolant, tyre pressure and brake fluidChecking vehicle licenses, certificate of fitness and insurance validity.
  • Recording of trips in the logbook.
  • Reporting any defect or damage of vehicles.
  • Ensuring tidiness of the vehicle at all times.
  • Running errands as authorized by management.
  • Any other related work as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Competencies

  • A full Malawi School Certificate of Education.
  • Valid Passenger Service Vehicle Driving License. Class CE/Class D and Category PGD
  • valid Defensive Driving Certificate.
  • 5 years’ experience working in a busy environment.
  • Basic motor vehicle mechanical skills.
  • Flexibility to work during odd hours, including weekends.
  • Responsible, caring attitude and mature personality.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as motivated, passionate and hard working.
