Cattle Feedlot Company (CFC) is a Malawian registered company which owns three farms totaling 3,700 hectares in the Shire Valley, southern region. This includes over 1,200 hectares of irrigated sugarcane, under Kaombe Sugar Estate, located at Sorgin/Bangula, Nsanje District and Sande Sugar Estate and Sangowa Farm located at Bereu, in Chikwawa District.

The company is looking for a well-qualified individuals to fill the following position: COMMUNITY LIASON OFFICER tenable at our Sande Farm at Bereu and also reporting to our Kaombe and Sangowa Farms.

Community Liaison Officer Job Summary

We are seeking for an organized, efficient, and communicative person to coordinate between our organization and other entities. In this role, you will act as the middle person between our business and other entities to streamline operations, resolve issues, improve communications, and generally ensure that the relationship is as beneficial as possible.

Liaison Officer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the business, as well as an understanding of how that impacts other entities of contact
  • Monitor, coordinate, and communicate the strategic objectives of the business
  • Work with other staff members (HSE, Security and Admin) to develop a greater understanding of the business and any issues that arise
  • Develop and foster relationships with the community, stakeholders, and other entities
  • Compile reports about particular incidents, events, or updates about an important issue for the business
  • Proactively solve conflicts and address issues that could occur between the business and the other entities and community
  • Work hand in hand with the Safety Manager and the Administration Manager to promptly respond to incidents and other events as necessary
  • Serving as a liaison between the company, residents and police officers to resolve problems or concerns.
  • Engaging with the appropriate parties for community engagement plans, and reaffirming a favorable image of the organization in the neighborhood.
  • Reporting to the General Managers and keeping track of engagement strategies and actions.
  • Giving feedback to the General Manager on community objectives and issues to revise intervention efforts as needed.

Liaison Officer Requirements and Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in community outreach, social work, public relations, or community development, and/or public administration
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a community related role
  • Customer-oriented attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and nurture beneficial business relationships
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to take initiative and solve complex problems
  • Capability to negotiate with and influence others
  • Analytically and mathematically minded to analyze data and create necessary reports
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and walk throughout the workday
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
