CLAIMS SUPERVISOR – LILONGWE BRANCH
Reporting to the Claims Manager, the Claims Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the claims team, ensuring that all claims are processed efficiently, accurately, and in full compliance with the Insurance Act, regulatory requirements, and company policies. The supervisor will provide leadership, guidance, and training to claims assistants and officers while ensuring that claim settlements are handled promptly and fairly. This role will also be responsible for driving performance improvement within the team, ensuring that KPIs are met and that the department operates at optimal efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- A degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or related fields.
- Professional certifications such as ACII (Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute) or its equivalent is a plus.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in claims management within the insurance industry, with a
- solid understanding of both motor and non-motor insurance products.
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership role, including managing teams and driving performance improvement.
- Familiarity with claims management software and tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for claims analysis and reporting.
- Strong understanding of insurance policies, claims processes, and the regulatory landscape in
- the insurance industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, especially in handling escalated claims.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, with a strong track record of managing teams, providing
- training, and driving performance.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and recommend solutions.
