Job Summary
The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) is responsible for managing the finance department of Wealthnet Finance PLC. This includes tracking cash flow, financial planning, budgeting, managing financial risks, overseeing investment activities, and ensuring compliance with national and microfinance-specific regulations. The CFO plays a critical role in strategic decision-making and works closely with the executive team to ensure the company’s financial health and sustainability. Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s mission and growth plans.
- Provide financial leadership in strategic business planning and operational decision-making.
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Financial Management
- Manage all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, auditing, treasury, and reporting.
- Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to management, regulators, and investors.
- Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify financial and operational risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with national financial regulations, tax laws, and microfinance-specific regulations (e.g., RBM directives guidelines).
- Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
- Capital & Funding Management
- Oversee capital structure and funding strategies.
- Manage relationships with banks, investors, and other funding partners.
- Lead fundraising initiatives including equity, debt, and grant opportunities.
- Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounts team.
- Implement systems to ensure professional development, accountability, and performance management.
- Technology & Systems
- Oversee implementation and optimization of financial systems, including core banking systems and digital tools relevant to microfinance operations.
- Promote digitization and data-driven decision-making in financial processes.
- Key Qualifications:
Education:
- Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- CPA, ACCA, CFA, or similar professional qualification preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 8–10 years of financial management experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven experience in microfinance, fintech, financial services, or related sectors.
- Experience working with regulatory bodies and managing audits.
Skills:
- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
- Deep understanding of microfinance operations, portfolio management, and financial inclusion.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Proficient in financial software and tools (e.g., ERP, core banking systems).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Performance Indicators:
- Timely and accurate financial reports.
- Compliance with all regulatory and audit requirements.
- Successful fundraising and capital management.
- Budget variance within acceptable limits.
- Team development and retention.
